Tape, and the people you meet.

It has been a while since I last updated. So I thought I would give you a little update on what I've been up to (other than scouring xanga all day).

First, we completed our new TV studio at work. It is really nice, and our department did a great job getting it done. I am always amazed at how easily I can be motivated to work late when free food is involved. The neatest part of the whole studio is that Pastor Mac was really impressed with it when he came down to tape. Yay!

Next, I have been working a lot of evenings at both church and channel 12. It gets old. I miss my family a lot of the time but I know God has a plan and purpose for us--and working 2 jobs isn't it! In the natural I can't see when that will change for me but I know it will! When I am at home with Jen and Sadie I really cherish them a lot. I love them so much and I wish I could be home a lot more as Sadie grows and learns how to do something new every week. Kids are really a blessing, I recommend trying it sometime if you haven't already!

Today I had the day off. Jen had made plans with her friend Emily already so I made plans with Nate, coworker, and we went to open skate at the Maple Grove community center with his son Beckett. It was looking to be a good time until they dropped the "F" bomb on Nate at the check-in. Yep you guessed, "Figure skates"!!!! They only rented figure skates. So as you can imagine Nate's manliness took a big hit, even more than being with another grown man at open skate on a Friday afternoon surrounded by mom's and their 5 year olds! It was fun though, we got Beckett going on the ice pretty good, I believe Beckett is 4 yrs old. He did great once he got the hang of it. I've gotta give prop's to Nate for wearing figure skates (of course the skates were complimented with dull blades!).

Hmm, what else, oh I know, I had a interesting time at Totino-Grace HS the other night with Channel 12. I must say that people at that "Christian" school were pretty rude. I had a couple conversations with people who just acted like jerks to me (when my job is to put their event on tv). So of course you all know me, I like to fight fire with fire, and use my mouth to make light of even the dumbest situations, for example; I was taping down a video cable across a doorway (common practice so people don't trip over cables), when a courteous security man asked me to tape across the whole door way with tape, instead of cross taping every 6 inches. So I said sure, I don't have a problem doing that, that is how we do it at church all the time so no biggy. Well then I ran one length of tape across the cable in the door way along with all the cross taping I had already done and then ran out of tape. So, I went to the truck to get more tape to ensure that even the lowest common denominator of a person wouldn't trip over it. Then, when I return to continue laying the foundation for a giant tape-ball, I am approached by a lady who looked at me and told me I need to tape the cable across the door way (read a few sentences back and you will see I already did this, not to mention she is practically standing on my tape work). So I said "yes, I am taking care of that", she then told me that it could be "hazardous" to someone walking across the door way. I then looked at her in all seriousness and said, "ma'am we aren't responsible for hazards, just responsible to put stuff on tv", of course, found no humor in this and started telling me someone could trip and fall down on it, and I then said, "ma'am, that was a joke, I am taping it right now (a 3rd strip across). Argghh!

The other rude persons story wasn't quite as good, the short of it is though, this guy snapped at me when (more tape stories) myself and a coworker asked if we could hang up a poster on a trophy case (modeling some obsolete 1971 tennis championship trophy I am sure, not at all relevant to the singlet-manfest about to take place on the mat's) that listed all the times the event being taped would air on TV (generally beneficial). Here was our conversation, "can we hang these here?", response from angry balding man in circus sweater in less than a 3 count pin, "No, No!, No." And yes, he only exclamated his middle "No."

Needless to say I was not at all impressed with the way a Christian school treated there guests (I could have been a little nicer, maybe), kind of sad actually. I have been to a lot of public schools at this job and this place had the rudest staff/faculty I have dealt with yet. One more thing, when we came in and asked for a table for our announcers, the guy said, "you ain't gonna have all your cables and $h!t all over are you?" Sad place my friend. Sad place.

Well it is late, I must go to bed. Tomorrow we are going out with Nate & Leslie for Leslie's birthday. I can't say what we are doing quite yet in case she reads this tonight still. Anyway, shout out to my sister Beth in the deep south of Mississippi. Have a nice weekend all and I hope you enjoyed reading my randomness!

My little girl Sadie is getting much better each day! Praise God! She has been improving since the prayers & meds started and will be done with her medicine tomorrow. I will be very happy when her little bout with illness is all gone.

On a fun note, I used my Christmas gift cards to buy some hockey skates today. So if you like to go skating or play some hockey let me know. I will gladly join you and make a blistering fool of myself!

I hope you all are having a wonderful New Year.

Ahh...another post.

I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas season! Life in the House house is great, Jen is as sweet as ever and of course Ms. Sadie Belle is very cute, "oohing & ahhing" all the time! I only have 5 more days of work until vacation! Woohoo! I am so excited to get to be home with Jen & Sadie over the holidays. I really miss them a lot some weeks when I work both jobs.

This next weekend (17th & 18th) we are going to Rochester to visit the Hunt family. Jen is going to take a family pic for Israel & Charity and I am going to play guitar at their church. Music is something I really love to play, I just wish I could make it the priority I use to. Having to work, be a husband, a father, and of course on neglective-homeowner takes its toll on hobbies such as guitar! I aspire to one day sing while I play the guitar, but I think for the time being it would be a great hindrance to the move of God during praise & worship!

This coming Tuesday (13th) is Jen & I's third-wedding anniversary! I can't believe how fast it has gone. We have both grown so much together and now share the most amazing gift to our lives, Sadie. I plan on surprising Jen with some sort of fun date night...who knows what I will do!

*NEW SUBJECT*  I learned another valuable lesson in The Diaries of a Fat Man today; When tempted with your very favorite dessert (Special K bars), it is never a wise decision to eat a dozen in a 10-hour period! I am still reeling from the aftermath of my decision now into late Saturday night. Hershey's chocolate on top of the bars = hershey squirts.

This past week at work was wild, lots of stuff to do and little time to accomplish it. Thursday & Friday we were having our workstations rebuilt by the I.T. department and Digital Pictures (vendor we have support through). I am excited to see what our upgraded software is like. We purchased the upgrade to Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro 5, Motion 2, Soundtrack Pro(2), DVD Studio 4). Next week I have to finish the Announcement Guys and then I believe I am home free until the following year!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, (don't mind my sudden subject changes--its a weblog people!) we went to Manny & Andrea's house and celebrated a belated 30th birthday for Manny. 30 years old, you wouldn't guess he acts a day over 18! JK! We had a really fun time, Danny & Stephanie and their girls were there, Kenny & Heidi (Andrea's parents) were there as well as both of Andrea's grandmas. Nice time was had by all. We rounded out the evening by watching some of my Seinfeld DVD's and eating some leftovers. YUMMY (for Andy & Manny)!!!!!

I have been on a real David Crowder Band kick this weekend, anyone else like them a lot?

Well, I will hopefully post again soon, I like writing longer ones and then updating every 2 weeks or so.

John

Ahh...Thanksgiving weekend.

I had a nice time visiting with my family and friends, and most of all just being home with Jen & Sadie. We went to my aunt and uncle's house on Thanksgiving and ate some turkey and got to play some XBOX 360.

Here is a little equation for you math people;

Uncle's 2 cats + John's severe cat allergies = CRAPPY BREATHING FOR A FEW HOURS!

That was the only downside to visiting my family--but it was still all worth it!

Friday I went with Andy to the Minnesota Wild game, that was really fun, I had a great time. Funny story--As many of you know I am a real dork when it comes to going to the bathroom in public places. Well I was doing really good (having gone 2x in the stadium already) then I had to go when the game was over--now the bathrooms were full of lots of people who had to detoxify there bodies from all of there beer! And of course none of them have problems peeing in public at a urinal--just me! So I had to go into 3 bathrooms over about 10-20 minutes until I found and empty stall!!!!! YES!!!! I told Andy that lots of people "bar hop" but I "bathroom hop."

Saturday I worked at Channel 12's Turkey Trot Hockey Tournament, it was a good time. I really enjoy working with all them yahoo's at The 12.

Sunday, first service at church, Dennis Burke was speaking and was pretty good for the dead tired crowd he was preaching too! I like his style and his big ears, they just make me smile for some reason!

Then we (Jen, Sadie, & I) went over to my dads for a pancake breakfast. Dad always makes some good eatin--I don't really care for breakfast food but I actually ate 4 little pancakes.

From there it was off to Jen's grandparents house in Watkins, MN. That is about an hour-and-a-half  Northwest of here. We hit some really crummy fog on the way out there, only to be about 5 times worse on the way home in the dark! My gosh, I haven't been so nervous driving for quite a while. We made it home safely and I was very happy to have God's protective angels around our car!

Well I got to get to bed, but I will leave you with some Thanksgiving jokes that are Laffy Taffy quality, but still pretty funny.

What did the mother turkey say to
her disobedient children?

If your father could see you now,
he'd turn over in his gravy!

What is the Turkey's favorite black tie celebration?

The Butter Ball

JOHN
